Death Panels are back

Even though Grandma supposedly no longer has to worry about the Obama Administration ‘death panels,’ non-bank financial institutions do. At least, that’s what you might gather if you heard Rep. Barney Frank‘s opening remarks this morning during a House Financial Services Committee hearing. He said — and I do quote — that there will be “death panels for non-bank financial institutions.” Barney was going off on a tangent (somewhat) and later clarified that he was talking about large ‘too big too fail’ institutions such as AIG and Lehman. Supposedly, in a memo that’s floating around Washington, Rep. Frank (when it comes to the Consumer Financial Protection Agency) says he wants depositories and non-banks to be treated equally — and that this supposedly applies to mortgage lenders. Meanwhile, AIG’s stock, once again, is on the rise. It’s at $47 compared to a 52-week low of $6.60 and a high of $114. Since I (and my fellow Americans) own most of AIG, my recommendation is this: sell it, baby!…

  2. Jack…MJ wasn’t talking about Obama’s death panels with regards to health care, it was the ugly homo Barney Frank talking about finacial companies

  3. that i understood, stacey. however, he uses the death panel accusation to transition to his point. my concern is that he isn’t sold on the fact that there never was, is, or will be any death panels. this is a well established fact. as the link i provided points out quite well.

may i add that it is my opinion that referring to people the way you did to mr. frank will not endear you to many people and you’ll find your political arguments, no matter how well meaning or soundly stated, falling on hard hearts when you do so in the future.

i would suggest using fair-minded words.

i have a blog post on the subject that i’m quite proud of. i’d be honored if you read it.

  4. Jack…I never believed there were any death panels…there have been plenty of inaccuracies on all sides of the debate
Also…I agree to an extent on the comments regarding Stacey’s choice of words, however I doubt many people would find Barney Frank as attractive & he is gay..
